2007 Annual Car Show

The Classic Reflections Car Club's 14th Annual
Car Show was a huge success. Held on March 31, 2007, the show was
held in conjunction with Palm Bay's annual 'Big Squeeze' event, which
features Florida's Citrus-farming heritage. The weather was sunny and bright. It was a
perfect day to view and discuss the cars.
The
Car Show was well attended by over 150 street rod, classic and
custom cars and bikes. The first 100 registrants were given goodie bags with commemorative
dash plaques and 'stuff' from area and national sponsors. Cars were
judged and 30 Top cars were chosen. A 'Best in Show', a 'People's
Choice', a 'Best Under Construction' and a ' Club Participation' award
were also awarded. Judging was very difficult as all entries were worthy of 'Best in Show' awards.
Throughout the show, numerous door prizes were awarded to show
entrants. A Silent Auction, a 50-50 Raffle and an 'Elimination Pool'
were also available to anyone who wanted to participate. Also a few
games were played which delighted the children.
This Year's Commemorative T-shirts featured last year's 'Best in Show' winner a beautiful Custom 1951 DeSoto 'Convertible' owned by Cheryl Smith of Palm
Bay
This year's 'Best in Show' winner,
a 1934 Chevy Pickup owned by Louis Van Dorin of Indialantic was a crowd
pleaser with its deep black paint, chrome 350 engine and clean interior.
The
'Peoples Choice' award went to Brad Buchweitz's 1994 Honda.
People's Choice is selected by popular vote
by all attendees of the show. The People's choice award is sponsored by the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce.
Both Lou's Pickup and Brad's Honda will be featured on next year's T-Shirt.
The Classic Reflections Car Club, in addition to
providing a venue for discussing the collector car hobby among friends,
raises money throughout the year for area charities. In 2006 the club
members donated money to over 12 local charities.
On the Fourth Saturday evening of every month the
club members hold a car cruise at the Sonic Drive-In Restaurant on Wickham Road in Melbourne. All owners of
classic, streetrod and custom cars
are welcome to exhibit their vehicles at the cruise. A DeeJay provides
music and entertainment throughout the night. A 50-50 Raffle is always
available to attendees. Why not make it a point to visit the club's
next
event. It starts at 5:00 PM and continues to 9:00 PM.
The Classic Reflections Car Club meets monthly on
the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. The meeting is held at the Greater Palm
Bay Senior Center on Culver Road just off Palm Bay Road.
